Under general supervision, performs financial work involving significant accounting responsibilities, in relation to bank statement reconciliation, grant accounting, fixed asset accounting, and related duties for the Finance Office. This position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of computerized accounting records, assisting with reports and other related financial functions.Work performance is reviewed through accounting controls, reports and results achieved. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Priority 1:Assists in performing all accounts payable, accounts receivable, Weight: 50%fixed assets and payroll accounting functions including:payroll reconciliation; distribution and deposit; remittance of appropriate tax withholdings and preparation/reconciliation of other related payroll accounting forms and records. Priority 2:Supervises and plans work for clerical staff. Weight: 15% Priority 3:Completes accounting entries and reconciliation reports for Weight: 5%Federal and State grants. Priority 4:Reconciles all City bank statements and prepares reconciling Weight: 5%item accounting entries. Priority 5:Prepares fixed asset subsidiary records to general ledger. Weight: 5% Priority 6:Assists with monthly closings.Processes entries, analyzes and Weight: 5%coordinates accounting data. Priority 7:Reconciles accounts receivable and payable as required. Weight: 5% Priority 8:Serves as back up to payroll, billing and accounts payable Weight: 5%function. Priority 9:Assists in preparing audit schedules. Weight: 5% SECONDARY JOB DUTIES: ?Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Personal computer, word processor, fax machine, copy machine, typewriter, calculator, adding machines, and other assigned equipment. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Chief Accountant. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: ?Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices. ?Considerable knowledge of general office procedures. ?Considerable knowledge of personal computers and word processing and database programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite, the Munis financial accounting module, the Windows NT network, and internet and e-mail services. ?Ability to perform mathematical computations with accuracy. ?Ability to maintain records and prepare analytical reports. ?Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public. DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in accounting, and Four (4) years of experience in general accounting functions, with computerized payroll accounting experience, or Any equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the appointing authority.
