A real estate development firm in the Midtown West Atlanta area seeks a Full-Charge Bookkeeper. We are a small growing company offering an entrepreneurial environment. The incumbent must be able to handle a fast-paced momentum, a keen multi-tasker, as well as diligent in staying on top of changing priorities. We are open to an independent contractor or employee status for this position.

Primary Duties:

Maintains financial records and general ledgers related to real estate investment and development activity. Verifies and enters checkbook transactions and reviews bank reconciliations.
Pays bills, reconciles general ledger accounts including loan accounts, fixed asset accounts, payroll withholding accounts, liabilities, equity accounts, salary expenses and payroll tax expenses.
Monitors revenue and expense accounts for reasonableness and any potential tax schedules. Compiles financial statements (balance sheet and profit and loss statements); maintains budget reports.
Maintains chart of accounts, prepares payroll tax returns, Forms 1099, and personal property tax returns.
Maintains strict confidentiality. Communicates and coordinates with principals about critical financial data and processes. Participates in administration activities and performs related work as required. Resolves payables issues by thoroughly researching and generating supportive documentation. Recommends to principals solutions to problematic issues.

Secondary Duties:

Assists Office Manager with general flow of office functions and special projects. Able to assume duties in Office Manager’s absence.

Requirements:
5 years of accounting experience, preferably with real estate. Accounting degree preferred, but not required. Must be dependable and a super self-starter. Proficient with QuickBooks Pro, Excel, Word, and Outlook applications. Able to identify and initiate effective accounting processes and set up accounting software.
