The CAD Manager’s role is to ensure the stable operation of in-house CAD software including Microstaion XM, Bentley Architecture, and Bentley Structural for an architectural/engineering firm doing large scale mixed-use projects in both a traditional 2D CAD environment and a 3D BIM environment.This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all CAD installations across the company, including offices overseas.The CAD Manager will also analyze and resolve CAD user’s issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training where required.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities.
•Develop and coordinate with the IT manager the network procedures and protocols for CAD software administration, including setting up and maintaining the site and project level workspaces.
•Continue to develop already established CAD standards, and enforce the CAD standards with regards to file set-up, levels, dimensioning, text annotations, and othe aspects of CAD usage.
•Formulate and conduct training sessions and teaching materials for propagating CAD knowledge throughout the organization.
•Recruit, guide, coach, and mentor junior members of the CAD team.
•Provide on-call application support for the CAD users
•Create and recommend strategies for document management as it relates to CAD user outputs, including collection, revision and archiving.
•Analyze current CAD application usage and plan for growth or increases in software licensing and new applications.
•Conduct research on new and emerging CAD technologies (i.e. Generative Components) or technologies that can be leveraged through existing CAD investments.
•Coordinate and schedule software improvements and upgrades.
•When necessary assist in the migration of projects to newer versions of CAD applications.

Environment Job Requirements
•Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines.
•Able to participate in training sessions, presentations and meetings.
•Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site installations, configuration and training.

Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering.
•At least 5 years direct experience in the architectural/engineering industry.
•At least 2 years direct experience operating, managing, and administrating Microstation.
•Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of CAD software solutions, including Microstation XM, Bentley Architecture, Bentley Structural, and Generative Components,
•Excellent understanding of the company’s business goals and objectives.
•Good project management skills.
•Strong knowledge of CAD quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
•Strong customer-service orientation.
•Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
•Ability to conduct research into application issues and products.
•Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
•Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
•Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
•Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
