This position is in the Global ThoughtWorks Information Systems group, based in the TW Chicago office. This position would be supervised by the Global IS Director. The occupant of this position should expect between 30-50% travel within US/Canada, with the possibility of occasional travel outside of North America. General Responsibilities include: o Setting up and supporting software development environments for development teams in ThoughtWorks’ Professional Services division (approx. 50%) o Supporting the internal technical infrastructure of ThoughtWorks (approx. 50%) Job Duties and Expectations: Applicants for this position need to be able to demonstrate a substantial number of the following: o Ability to set up and support build, deployment, and configuration systems for multi-tier Java J2EE, .NET, and Ruby applications. This implies experience with most of the following tools: o Multiple operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux) o Application servers, such as WebSphere and JBoss o Oracle, SQLServer, and MySQL databases o Build tools like ANT, Maven, and CruiseControl o Source code and configuration repository systems like CVS and StarTeam o Automated testing frameworks o Configuration script creation o Ability to support corporate technical infrastructure of ThoughtWorks and its customers. This implies experience with many of the following areas: o Firewall and router appliances (primarily Cisco) o Networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, and DNS) o Other network appliances (switches, hubs, and modems) o Enterprise network environment design and support o Data backup systems (Symantec Backup Exec, BriteStore) o VoiP phone systems (Cisco) o General consulting and support skills, such as the following: o Superior customer-facing skills o Superior troubleshooting skills o Ability to multi-task and work under dynamic conditions and constraints with minimal supervision o Ability to prioritize individual assignments in order to maximize team productivity o Ability to work with colleagues distributed globally o Willingness to participate in a 24/7 system infrastructure monitoring and support team o Willingness to learn and support other IS functions as required
