We are currently hiring for PRN Direct Care Staff. This position is a great part-time job. You will work on an as-needed basis. We also have daytime, evening, and weekend hours available.

Direct Care

Job Description:

Operate in the function of a mentor/positive role model in a children’s shelter demonstrating wisdom and maturity. This person will establish close relationships with the youth, providing a nurturing yet structured environment. Direct Care Staff ensure for the constant supervision and safety of all residents while encouraging residents to meet their therapeutic goals.

Duties:

•Read all intake information to learn issues for each resident, how to best work with each resident and individual needs of each child.

•Maintain daily documentation to include:

•Document shift notes for each shift based on resident’s activities, behavior and state or mind. Document any concerns and report to Director and Case Manager.
•Document in individual resident charts progress of resident and/or concerns noted during shift.
•Complete incident reports as necessary to document concerning behaviors of residents.
•Complete points chart to provide behavior management feedback for individual residents.

•Administer medicines and complete documentation for disbursement.

•Complete intakes (after hours) and discharges (after hours) as needed

•Utilize crises management skills to de-escalate potential conflicts among residents and/or staff

•Lead house meetings/groups to teach appropriate communication skills and resolve conflicts

•Supervise residents at all times, providing direction to assist their completion of household responsibilities (meal preparation, chores, laundry, etc…)

•Provide transportation and supervision for outings involving the residents.

•Communicate regularly with Direct Care Supervisor, Director, and Case Manager.

•Follow Policy and Procedures Manual at all times.

•Model positive and professional behavior at all times.

•Stock bathrooms with paper products/hand soap (overnight)

•Check refrigerators, freezers, and pantry for dated food and spills. (Overnight)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a Social Sciences field preferred (minimum of a high school diploma)

Good knowledge of counseling techniques effective with challenging youth.

Willingness to be a good role model for youth and ability to maintain a balance of structure and empathy.

Experience working with children and youth.

CPR and First Aid Training

Valid Driver’s License

Criminal background check

Drug Screen

Physical and TB test

Salary:

$10.00 per hour weekday / $11.00 per hour weekend
