Essential Duties: Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, the Export Compliance Officer will be responsible for implementing and managing the company's Export Compliance Program to ensure compliance with:
- the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), as administered by the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC);
- the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS);
- the Foreign Asset Control Regulations (FACR), as administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC);
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE or ATF) regulations, as administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, and
- foreign export control laws, as applicable.

The Export Compliance Officer will provide guidance and advice to company management and other employees regarding interpretation of the ITAR, EAR, FACR, and ATF Regulations; draft and support implementation of company procedures; develop Export Compliance forms, tools, templates and performance reports; develop and conduct Export Compliance training programs for management, functional organizations, and Export Compliance personnel; coordinate the Export Compliance organization’s activities related to technical data controls; coordinate the preparation and filing of all export license applications, commodity jurisdiction and classification requests; determine requirements for appropriate use of licenses, license exemptions and exceptions, and ‘no license required’ transactions; and conduct Export Compliance audits and reviews of the company.

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree plus additional professional training in the area of Export Control and at least 5 years of significant Export Compliance operational experience. The successful candidate will have specific international trade subject matter knowledge and the ability to apply trade knowledge to company and corporate requirements, and serve as a recognized resource who can quickly find information on the laws and practicalities of exporting. Other requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. export control laws and regulations;
- Experience interacting with senior level management, government officials and all levels of employees;
- Experience in making formal presentations, developing and performing training, and ensuring understanding of legal and procedural requirements at all levels of the company;
- Relevant experience with DDTC or BIS would be a significant plus.
