Primary Responsibility:
Review, respond, amend and adjust claims as needed to ensure the efficient processing of the claims process.
Essential Functions:
1. Review new claim files.
2. Adjudicate liability according to the data gathered.
3. Amend and adjust claims according to the documentation.
4. Correspond in writing with claimants regarding denials, additional information requests and amendments.
5. Gather, and confirm carrier rebuttal information with warehouses and customer.
6. Audit reports and discrepancies in the claim file.
7. Prepare reports for customers and warehouses as requested.
8. Conduct bi-weekly staff meetings.
9. Assist claim clerks with company changes and problem solving.
10. Assists customers with tasks related to claims for all parties.
11. Follow up with warehouses to gather additional data and documentation.
12. Negotiate settlements with carrier and customers.
Qualifications/Additional Skills:
•3 years cargo claims examiner experience
•Strong attention to detail orientation with good analytical skills
•Computer literate in AS400 (or similar system) and Microsoft Office
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong negotiation skills
•One year of accounting experience
•Two to three years of general transportation experience and/or shipping and receiving
