Hi, my name is Kathy.I’m a 42 years old mom of 4 and a Grammy of 4 (with 5th due in July).The reason I’m posting on Craig’s List is I’m in a desperate situation. I am from South Florida, but have lived in North Carolina for a few years now due to family members being stationed here after 9/11.I do not drink and have never done drugs or smoked…I don’t even have any points on my driver’s license.I don’t party and my family is my life…my grandbabies make my world go round.
I have always worked in the corporate world doing from accounting to office management/project coordinator. A few years back while working as a project coordinator, I had my car on my company credit card.Part of my position consists of driving to check on crews, run errands, etc…thus, I got part of the car and gas.NOTE, my name was on the card and the bills were paid out of the main office in Louisiana.I was authorized to use the card, it wasn’t hidden and I had nothing to do with paying the bills.When I left the company, the owner got mad and decided to claim the charges were unauthorized.From what I understand, the credit card company credited the company back the money.Everyone told me there was no way I’d be found guilty and I listened to my public defender who advised me to agree to a plea bargain.I didn’t know that the car company would charge me a daily rate instead of the monthly rate; thus, I was ordered to pay more than the actual car would have cost to purchase.Due to this conviction, I haven’t been able to get a decent job in accounting or the corporate world; which, I worked in since I was 23 years old and held a corporate accounting position with Coca-Cola.I can’t even obtain a credit card because this is on my credit.I have lost 3 jobs due to probation officers (there are good and bad ones), that advised my employer.I have been violated for not being able to pay, but after sitting in jail for approx. 21+ business days, I was released.During that time, I lost my job, apartment, basically everything and had to start over.Now, I’ve got my life together again and have a job I love and have been at for 15 months, an apartment, clothes, an 11 year old car and food…I love my life ‘cept for this hanging over me.
My problem is the end of my probation term is coming up very quickly.I believed it ended in 2010, but a few weeks ago was advised that is was around March 27-29th of this year.There’s a few days discrepancy, but have been assured it does end within that time frame.If the restitution isn’t paid prior to that date, my probation officer said I’d be arrested and could be sentenced to a jail term of up to 10 years.I am a good person, I just don’t have the money to pay and my family doesn’t either.My father passed away, my mom lives on social security and my children are military and local law
enforcement employees.
What I need are 148 good people who can contribute $100.00 each to pay off this restitution.This is not a scam and if your heart so moves you to help, email me and I will send you the states P.O. Box and the restitution account number to mail a money order made out to the state…which you can easily verify as legitimate. Please remember it must be received prior to the 27th of this month.
I wouldn’t be doing this, but I don’t know what else to do except ask others to search their heart and help a good person.If it were reversed, I’d do whatever I could.
