Income Tax Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

Responsible for the preparation of consolidated federal and multi-state income tax/franchise tax, gross receipt and local income tax returns, estimated tax payments, extensions and related schedules. Prepare schedules for the quarterly and annual tax provision.

Essential Functions:

Prepare federal consolidated income tax returns (very essential). Prepare state unitary and separate company tax returns for all states.
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting records for the purpose of preparing an accurate tax return.
Prepare and maintain various schedules and work papers needed to document the tax return filling. This includes but is not limited to apportionment factors, fixed asset reconciliations and NOL schedules.
Communicate timely with other divisions of company to gather information for the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Prepare Forms 5471 for foreign subsidiaries.
Gather information and prepare quarterly and annual FAS 109 schedules.
Respond to, research and follow up on income tax notices.
Analyze opportunities for process improvement.
Coordinate electronic payments with Treasury department.
Assist with income tax audits.
Reconcile income/franchise tax accounts on a monthly basis.
Calculate and prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and annual extensions.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels.

Additional Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Tax Manager and the Vice President of Taxation.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:

Bachelor’s Degree required.
A minimum of 3-5 years experience with corporate income tax compliance in a corporate tax department or CPA firm.
Experience with tax preparation software.
Good workpaper documentation skills.
xceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels.
Strong attention to detail required.
Proficiency with MS Excel.
Good understanding of general ledger and accounting principals.
Accept responsibility for, and complete tasks assigned by management in a timely fashion.
Ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work additional hours as needed.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to understand written documentation of technical tax laws and regulations.
