BASIC FUNCTION: The Database Administrator will be responsible for administering the enterprise data infrastructure. This includes daily monitoring and setup, system architecture, complex scripting, and database system administration. The DBA will configure monitoring systems for the script infrastructure. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Controls activities related to day-to-day maintenance such as creating backups, editing indexes and performing installations and upgrades. Involved in database planning, creating tables and in the design of the basic structure of the database. Controls the admin activities related to database planning and development. Creates backups, performs installations and upgrades. Tunes indexes, stored procedures, query optimization in transactional database environment. Identifies system bottlenecks, implements improvements. Performs database maintenance tasks. Assists with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization. Sets and monitors standards. Recommends systems changes to programming management. Maintain data integrity and security by establishing standards, controlling access and documenting all changes to database structures. Works with operations group to assist in the performing all pertinent server upgrades and migrations in line with overall database administration plans and processes. Creates and maintains existing business logic stored in the database (e.g. Functions, Views and Stored Procedures) developed in SQL. Understands and has experience with XML, and will be asked to maintain existing infrastructure. Design and implement new business objects as needs necessitate both using SQL based data access framework Must have decent understanding of data modeling and capable of designing and implementing enhancements to existing proprietary data model. Manage the data feeds and scheduling between WACA and external customer base Must be hard working, flexible, and detail oriented with excellent problem solving skills Great organization skills, ability to track progress of multiple time sensitive projects and coordinate flow of information with IT. Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually Must be flexible about working longer hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.
