Ceradyne Thermo Materials (http://www.ceradyne-thermo.com/), Inc., located in Clarkston, Georgia, is a world leader in the manufacturing of technical ceramic and engineered components.This division of Ceradyne, Inc, with manufacturing operations in Atlanta and China, seeks an enthusiastic, organized professional that works well in a dynamic work environment as a Project Engineer – Operations Development.

Summary: To engineer, specify and implement capitalized assets (facilities, equipment, etc.) necessary to support planned strategic growth projects.

Responsibilities:
a.To collaborate on and execute strategic expansion projects.
b.To help plan and coordinate equipment specification, installation, and commissioning with Operations Teams (Atlanta and Tianjin).
c.To act as the primary technical resource on engineering aspects of projects related to capacity expansion or new process development.
d.To interface with vendors to qualify equipment from an operational, cost, lead time and contractual standpoint.
e.To collaborate with Financial Department to develop and monitor capital budgets.
f.To travel to various project sites and monitor/report ongoing progress.
g.To work with Project Manager to understand specific process needs of expansion projects.
h.To work with Procurement/Logistics Manager to assure specified equipment arrives in accordance with overall project timeline.

Requirements:
a.Bachelors of Science degree in Civil, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
b.International work experience
c.Strong work ethic and high degree of flexibility.
d.Experience with technical specification and contract negotiation.
e.Understanding of architectural/construction drawings & contracts; financial reports; leases; building structure (mechanical, electrical, materials).

Priorities for coming year:
a.To participate in planning and construction execution of new Ceradyne manufacturing expansion in Atlanta, GA (completion April 2008) and Tianjin, China (completion March 2009).
b.To support Manufacturing Managers in meeting or exceeding 2008 crucible production plan.
c.To assist in planning and prioritizing strategic projects for 2009.

Travel: Must be willing to travel overseas for up to 3 weeks at a time based on urgency of manufacturing needs.
