First and foremost I was born and raised in DC. I grew up in one of more diverse neighborhoods and attended the cities public schools. I then went on to attend Howard Univ. Well know for its advancements in the black community. I say all this to say that, I've seen the city at its worse(300+murders)and I see the progression to this day. Like any major city regardless of whether of not its headed by a person of color its a difficult job. DC in my eyes as come a long way. Financially its doing the best it has in years, they're on the right track to getting the educational system in order and this is all do to a diverse cabinet of people who "honestly care" about the city they reside. The chief of police is a white woman, the mayor and young black man, ceo of schools an asian woman. This is the blueprint for success. So while I can't speak for other cities. I can say I'm proud of mine.
