Really want to learn to play guitar -

I would really like to learn how to play the guitar and am not sure if I can teach myself.Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could go to learn?Are there any colleges or music shcools in my area that I can take lessons from?Any advice? This has to be reputable! Thanks!
