Hello,
Relay For Life is an overnight event that brings our community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with cancer right here in our own community, and our efforts at Relay For Life can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free future.
I along with my team will be walking in the Relay for Life. I wanted to do something to honor the memory of my father Mike Borders who lost his fight to cancer 17 years ago. Then in October 2007 my mother Sue Borders was told she had Lung Cancer. Sadly to say she lost her fight to this nasty disease on March 22, 2008. I will be honoring the memories both my mother and father. I also have had two aunts to have lost their fight with cancer. Some other family members have had cancer in the past.
Cancer touches everyone!
I want to invite you to show your support in the ongoing fight against cancer by teaming up with us for this year's Relay. There are a few ways to show your support.
They included the following A) You can send me a check or money order made payable to the American Cancer Society (checks and money orders must be in before May 13)(email me for my address) B) Buy a cancer ribbon $3 for the small ones and $5 for the larger ones C) Buy a Luminaria in memory or in honor of someone who as cancer $10 each. This will light the way for us to walk at night.
