We are currently seeking a Senior Cost Estimator / Project Manager who is motivated and ready for an opportunity to work in a team-oriented environment.
Definition
Under direction of the Principals, perform cost estimating functions on multiple projects concurrently.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The preferred candidate is a seasoned senior level cost estimator/engineer with minimum of 7-10 estimating experience; is to be responsible for coordination and execution of multiple project estimates and maintain close interaction with the cost engineering and design professionals in the following areas: development and maintenance of the weekly project schedules, quality control/quality assurance, client satisfaction, interaction and management.
Typical Tasks
• Project Fulfillment - Plans, supervises, and directs the work of professional estimators, schedulers and technical professionals.
• Provides technical supervision, training and motivation to staff.
• Provides technical review of plans, specifications, reports, and other documents received for estimate or schedule production.
• Provides quality assurance review of estimates, reports, and other documents produced in and for fulfillment of contracts.
• Provides expertise to employees in the handling of various tasks involved in the fulfillment of contracts.
• Monitors contractual agreements with consultants and contractors.
• Prepares and presents oral and written reports.
• Performs related duties as required.
Employment Standards
Development of the required construction cost estimating skills, knowledge, and abilities are typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in the engineering or construction management field and increasingly responsible professional engineering experience in a related field.
Registration as a professional engineer, or the ability to become registered as a Professional Engineer within two years from the time of appointment, is preferred.
Knowledge of:
• Principles and practices of the cost estimating/engineering field.
• Federal sector design and construction standards and cost engineeringpractices.
• Principles of quality assurance and quality control.
• Principles of design document preparation and contracting methods;
• The theory of methods, materials, and equipment used in the design and construction of capital projects.
• Comprehensive, specific technical knowledge of the major functions within assigned area of responsibility.
Ability to:
• Provide parametric and pre-design cost estimates with minimal support.
• Perform estimating Project Management responsibilities including, project scope reviews, technical analysis, quality control, and market analysis.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Oversee staff, delegate and monitor responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
• Interpret complex project requirements.
• Perform peer review of design drawings and specifications.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Prepare clear, concise, and effective correspondence,technicalreports, presentations, and other documents required to perform the duties of this position.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
