The position is responsible for all aspects of product engineering to deliver the engineering portion of new product development projects, including technical development, analysis, specification, and verification of new products. Collaborates closely with Project Engineering, Design, CAD, Quality, Marketing, and Sourcing. Responsible for ensuring that new products are developed to meet appropriate safety, quality, and performance criteria. Involved in developing, modifying and executing engineering policies, which affect delivery of new products and may have company-wide effect. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delays in
Schedule:s, or quality issues and may jeopardize overall business activities. Regularly interact with senior management or executive levels and actively participate in the company Product Development Review meetings to ensure market, customer, consumer needs are understood and products are properly engineered. Position reports to Product Engineering Team Leader. Duties and Responsibilities
* Delivers engineering phase of new product development projects while meeting engineering standards for safety and quality
* Responsible for 3D model and 2D drawing development and accuracy of all component parts and assemblies of all new and/or existing product lines
* Ensure material, dimensional and performance specifications are suitable for product function and manufacturability
* Effectively lead the NPD team through development of new products in categories that are completely new to Calphalon
* Proactively analyzes new product designs to ensure they will meet their objectives
* Effectively executes the standard engineering processes for the company
* Achieves product engineering deliverables on schedule and within budget
* Advises department management and executives of the project status and problems (or potential problems) on a regular basis
* Responsible for the development of new product Bills of Material, routings, cost estimates and make versus buy analyses
* Perform structural and thermal analysis on new products to ensure that they are properly engineered to meet safety, quality, and performance standards
* Ability to manage the technical engineering portion of eight (8) to twelve (12) projects simultaneously. Ensure that all milestones and deadlines are being met

Qualifications:

* This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) to seven (7) years experience in product engineering and new product development.
* Experience working with industrial designers, marketing, and sourcing in a team environment is required.
* Experience working with Asian suppliers is desired.
* Experience with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 and Pro/MECHANICA is required.
* Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
* Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus.
* Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.
* A background in manufacturing consumer products from aluminum, stainless steel, glass, and plastic is beneficial but not required.
