Primary Responsibility: Highly visible role that will interface with all levels of Senior Management and Investors.Position has broad tax and accounting responsibilities.Excellent career opportunity with a talented team, supporting tax, accounting and financial reporting requirements of the company. Essential Functions: Managing the income tax accounting function, including preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions and tax footnotes, and analysis of effective tax rates Responsible for the coordination and review of corporate, partnership and various legal entity federal, state and local income and franchise tax filings for United States and Canada Responsible for the coordination and review of sales and use and property taxes for 30+ states Responsible for compliance, research, audits, consolidation, tax strategy and other special projects Perform and document quarterly and annual Real Estate Investment Trust (“REIT”) tests Interpret and apply corporate tax law and policy Prepare tax account analysis and reconciliations and maintain tax records Assist in FAS 109 tax provision preparation for the consolidated company Ensure files and documentation are properly recorded for compliance under SOX 404 regulations Working with corporate and business controllers to ensure significant transactions are provided for appropriately in the tax provision and obtain necessary tax information for compliance and issue resolution Tax strategy for new deals and agreements, including aiding with the creation of new entities, new or proposed transactions Manage and resolve tax notice issues Research tax saving strategies in income, sales and use and property Budgeting and forecasting taxes Other duties, as assigned Qualifications/Additional Skills: Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field (GPA of 3.0 or higher) A minimum total of 7 years of providing tax compliance and tax advisory services, with 4 if those years within public accounting (preferably with a Big 4 or Major National / Regional firm within the tax field) Technical experience: Corporate / Partnership tax experience for federal, state and local income taxes and property taxes (experience with REIT and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries, a plus) Experience in accounting for income taxes under FAS 109 CPA or Masters in Tax required Strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to research technical accounting issues and apply them Experience preparing or auditing financial statements Self-starter with excellent analytical and written / verbal communication skills Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a high-volume and changing environment Demonstration of ownership and ability to multi-task in order to balance responsibilities with assigned projects, while ensuring that all deadlines are met Experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access and accounting software systems.
