Computer Mainstream Corporation (CMC) is a currently looking to identify a Software Systems Engineer, for one of our clients in the Atlanta, Georgia area. We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Software Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Windows Support Unit within the IT Infrastructure Services Office. This office is responsible for the delivery of and support of IT products and services offered by GTA to state and local government customers located throughout the state of Georgia. This unit provides Windows 2000/2003 Systems Administration support, server setup and configuration, management of active directory, DNS, LAN, Microsoft Windows platform (deployment & support,) SharePoint, SMS, SAN, and Microsoft Exchange. The Windows platform is a dynamic and growing area in Georgia government IT. This hire will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a very large data center providing application hosting services utilizing many different technologies/methodologies including SDLC and ITIL and, supporting numerous agencies/entities. Immediate projects will consist of: Active DRAC Implementation Systems Management Server Implementation Directory Infrastructure Redesign This is a support position and may require night and/or weekend work to facilitate problem resolution. Candidate must be local and have cell phone. This persons most important responsibilities include: Provides Tier III support regarding problems with hardware, operating systems, database management systems, components, and related utilities in the Windows environment. Serves as design architect for moderate to complex solutions. Leads in the installation, repair, development and testing of hardware/software products and services. With little direct supervision or guidance from more senior technical staff member(s), develops and/or installs system utilities which may have major impact in a development, test, or production environment. Other important responsibilities include: Leads project planning sessions with team members to analyze requirements/implement products/services. Serves as Project Manager for deployments/implementations as required. Develops technical documentation for standard operating procedures as required. Proposes solutions that improve infrastructure functionality and performance. Monitors status and performance of operating systems using testing tools. Using testing and monitoring tools, tracks and reports operations system and/or database management system metrics. Is aware of service level agreement (SLA) targets. Explains service procedures to users. Escalates problems as required based on SLAs. Documents all operating system and/or database management system changes and problem resolutions. Verifies that operating system and/or database management system backups run successfully. Plans and executes disaster recovery procedures. Designs/implements security-related solutions. Serves as technical liaison on enterprise-wide projects/implementations. Consults with agencies and/or technical staff/management to ensure the efficient implementation of complex projects or enhancements to systems. Counsels users on technology changes that will impact work processes. Proactively seeks solutions to issues related to the Windows environment. Leads research efforts for future technologies. Leads in the evaluation of new technologies. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience in an Enterprise Windows environment configuring and managing Windows 2000/2003 on Dell platform. Extensive experience with Active Directory, DNS, LAN, WAN, MS Exchange, Citrix, VM Ware Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
