6 month Contract-to-Hire
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Unix Administrator to install, maintain, and monitor multiple applications that run Solaris and Red Hat Linux servers. This includes monitoring and backups. This position will be responsible providing 24/7 Application support on a rotating basis. Must have strong communication skills and prior experience with Solaris and Linux.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitor servers and applications for errors and performance problems
2. 3rd tier application support
3. Advanced scripting and automation
4. Capacity planning and hardware sizing and forecasting
5. General troubleshooting of operating system, hardware, and application problems
6. Troubleshooting and diagnostics of internal Java and J2EE applications
7. Assist in the development and implementation of server standards for all new servers
8. Represent team interests in meetings
9. Support team projects through full project lifecycle
10. All other duties as assigned by Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong Solaris 8/10 skills
2. Experience with setup and maintenance of BEA Weblogic App server
3. Veritas Volume Manager, File System, and Cluster experience
4. Shell scripting (sh, ksh, PERL, sed, awk, etc)
5. Experience in a ISP/Web Services environment
6. Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in team environment
7. Excellent communications skills
8. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience with the following considered a plus:
1. Software coding (JSP, C, Java, etc)
2. Apache configuration and support
