We are seeking a certified special education elementary school teacher for the 2008/2009 school year. The 504 School is a small, non-profit school located in Midtown Atlanta. Our mission is to teach students who have AD/HD in a truly alternative educational environment that acknowledges their needs and celebrates their strengths. We need an energetic, creative, dynamic teacher for our active and curious students….we just can’t compete with public school salaries and benefits! We will respond to candidates who possess current Georgia State teacher certification status and recent experience working with upper elementary students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade. In addition, candidate must have experience and/or knowledge in curriculum development, how to incorporate assistive technology into teaching, how to specifically teach students who have AD/HD, and how to combine direct instruction with inquiry based learning for ld students.
Other training or talents that would be a plus: Orton Gillingham method (or willingness to be trained), Handwriting Without Tears program, any skill set in the arts (art, music, performing etc), and experience in psychology or counseling.
