The Princeton Review is seeking part-time instructors to teach our GMAT preparatory courses and tutor students using curriculum and materials provided by The Princeton Review (TPR). We offer one type of classroom course and two types of tutoring (individual and small-group). The classroom course consists of eight sessions (the first of which is 2 hours and the remaining 7 sessions are 3 hours each) and generally meets once a week (which means a course usually lasts about two months). Individual tutorials are held one-on-one with a student and the comprehensive package is 18 hours. Small-group tutorials are held with groups of 2-4 students and the comprehensive package is 24 hours. Depending on what assignments teachers are given, schedules and time commitment vary. The majority of classes are held on weekday evenings and/or weekends. Tutorial schedules are flexible and are based on the student's and tutor's common availability. We are looking for instructors who are generally available at least 5-10 hours per week. Teachers do not have to grade anything, but they will be expected to respond to student questions about homework and practice tests. Teaching experience is highly preferred but not required. Regardless of past teaching experience, we do require all applicants to attend a comprehensive instructor training that goes over the length of two weekends. While training will provide instructors with the information necessary to teach TPR's specific strategies and curriculum, there are some qualities that all instructors should possess prior to training. We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, energetic, personable, and reliable. Excellent communication and writing skills are a must. We also require our instructors to have specific GMAT scores. All applicants must have scored in the 90th percentile or higher on the GMAT (this is generally a score of 670 or higher). The pay rate for teaching classroom courses starts at $18-23/hr. The pay rate for tutoring starts at $23-28/hr. The application/hiring process involves three steps: 1. Submit a resume and a copy of your official GMAT score. 2. Attend an audition (a group interview). 3. Complete training. Training is held over the course of two weekends and instructors are paid for attending. The next GMAT training will be held in Atlanta on the weekends of May 16-18 and May 30 – June 1. Instructors are also paid for prep time during training and during their first teaching assignment. To start the application process, email resume and test scores to ShannonL@review.com or fax to (404) 233-9594. Feel free to email the above address or call (404) 233-0980 with any questions about the position.
