The Princeton Review is seeking part-time instructors to teach our LSAT preparatory courses and tutor individual students using curriculum and materials provided by The Princeton Review (TPR). We offer three types of classroom courses (Hyperlearning, Accelerated, and Weekend) and two types of tutoring (individual and small-group). Hyperlearning courses consist of twenty-four 3.5-hr. sessions and generally start about three months prior to the LSAT test date. Accelerated courses consist of eight 3.5-hr. sessions and generally start about one and a half months prior to the LSAT test date. Weekend courses are held over the course of 1-2 weekends and are held right before the LSAT test date. Individual tutorials are held one-on-one with a student and the comprehensive package is 24 hours. Small-group tutorials are held with groups of 2-4 students and the comprehensive package is 30 hours. Depending on what assignments teachers are given, schedules and time commitment vary. The majority of classes are held on weekday evenings and/or weekends. Tutorial schedules are flexible and are based on the student's and tutor's common availability. We are looking for instructors who are generally available at least 10-15 hours per week. Teachers do not have to grade anything, but they will be expected to respond to student questions about homework and practice tests. Teaching experience is highly preferred but not required. Regardless of past teaching experience, we do require all applicants to attend a comprehensive instructor training that goes over the length of two weekends. While training will provide instructors with the information necessary to teach TPR's specific strategies and curriculum, there are some qualities that all instructors should possess prior to training. We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, energetic, personable, and reliable. Excellent communication and writing skills are a must. We also require our instructors to have specific LSAT scores. All applicants must have scored in the 90th percentile or higher on the LSAT (this is generally a score of 164 or higher). In accordance with company policy, only instructors who have scored in the 98th percentile or higher will be eligible to teach the Hyperlearning course (as well as the other two course types). Instructors who have scored in the 90-97th percentile will be eligible to teach the Accelerated and Weekend courses. All instructors will be eligible to do individual and small-group tutoring. The pay rate for teaching classroom courses starts at $18-23/hr. The pay rate for tutoring starts at $23-28/hr. Instructors are also given an additional stipend if they teach a classroom course with more than 12 students. The application/hiring process involves three steps: 1. Submit a resume and a copy of your official LSAT score. 2. Attend an audition (a group interview). 3. Complete training. Training is held over the course of two weekends and instructors are paid for attending. The next LSAT training will be held some time in June in Atlanta. The Princeton Review will pay or reimburse for travel, lodging, and meals for trainees coming from other areas. Instructors are also paid for prep time during their first assignment (whether it be classroom course or tutorial). To start the application process, email resume and test scores to ShannonL@review.com or fax to (404) 233-9594. Feel free to email the above address or call (404) 233-0980 with any questions about the position.
