Basic Function: This position has responsibility for the continuous operation of enterprise Unix application servers (hardware and network operating system), storage area networks and the enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure. This responsibility includes the supporting activities of installation, maintenance, problem resolution, inventory management, and disaster recovery. This position also has the responsibility for managing customer expectations, through Service Level Agreements, and meeting or exceeding those expectations to produce high customer satisfaction with support of existing facilities, as well as customer satisfaction with the development and implementation of system infrastructure necessary to delivery solutions to business requirements. Representative Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Ensures stable daily performance of complex, highly available Unix/RDBMS, EMC SAN and Backup & Recovery environment through performance monitoring and tuning. 2. Performs capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction; ensures systems maintenance. 3. Plans and implements major software and hardware implementations and upgrades; ensuring change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed. 4. Ensures SOX and auditing compliance. 5. Ensures Disaster Recovery plan can be flawlessly executed from daily backups and vaulted software. 6. Documents departmental processes and procedures, as well as system processes, procedures, and configuration. 7. Works closely with Asset Management Analyst to ensure hardware and software assets are tracked. Education and Experience: Required: • 10+ years progressive IS experience in large system environment. • Hands on experience with: - Second-Level enterprise server support (Sun Solaris) - Server configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance - Server performance management and capacity planning - System and network monitoring tools - Enterprise server high availability implementation (Sun Cluster) - Web server configuration and support - Enterprise Backup and recovery implementation and support (Veritas Netbackup) including tuning and multistreaming. - Network name services and network protocols - Enterprise security polices and practices - Enterprise middleware software - Enterprise mail systems - Cross-platform system integration with multiple operating systems including Linix & Windows - Network file and print services - Installing and administrating EMC Storage Area Networks (BCV's, Timefinder & SRDF) - End user administration & direct user support - Scripting and batch files - Ability to provide after hours on-call support (pager) • Experience developing server infrastructure, storage and backup implementation plans from user-defined business requirements, and executing those plans, using standard project planning procedures and tools Preferred: • BA/BS degree in Information Technology or Equivalent discipline.
