Team Challenge is an endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk a half marathon. Participants will raise funds for Crohn's & colitis research and patient services in exchange for training, support, lodging and airfare to the 2008 Inaugural Rock N’ Roll half marathon in San Antonio, TX.
Team Challenge is currently looking for a walk coach. The positions of Walk Coach is a part-time, contracted position that will provide coaching services to participants for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Team Challenge Endurance Training Program and will start in June and go through mid November 2008.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
•Develop weekly training schedules for participants to run or walk a half marathon at beginner and advanced levels.
•Coach will develop training courses and secure park permits if necessary with the help of staff from CCFA.
•Establish water stops at appropriate mile markers along route for group training sessions.It is recommended every 2 miles for water stops.
•Each group training session is started with stretches and last minute information for a successful walk training session.
•Ensure that all participants are supported through out group training session. Coach is to stay until every person finishes safely.
•Organize clinics through out the season to teach participants on correct clothing, shoes, hydration, stretching, sports psychology, etc.
•Be available for staff and participants weekly via email, phone and in person for any questions relating to training for a half marathon.
•Assist staff and participants as necessary during event weekend and ensure that all participants finish their race safely. All coaches on site event weekend support all Team Challenge Participants for CCFA.
