We are a strong Tier 1 Automotive Supplier looking for a highly motivated Engineering professional to mentor and develop for challenging Engineering positions in the next 3 years. This person would begin as a Warranty Engineer The focus to reduce warranty costs for the Commercial Engine. The position is expected to identify ways to drive down costs and improve processes that enable us to reduce current and future warranty costs.This person will work closely with high level management to report out progress for the Commercial Diesel group as necessary. As this person's career progresses, additional responsibilities and cross functional assignments will be provided to prepare the employee to take their career to the next level. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES •Drives the “Key Warranty Issue Summary” document for the Top 5 warranty problems. • •Setups criteria for harmonized reporting of top warranty problems. • •Analyses current teardown distributions with each plant for every customer based on model and global defined failure modes. • •Defines necessary IT support for global warranty database. • •Identifies warranty cost drivers. • •Defines warranty exposure for the next years based on methods like Weibull. • •Establishes frequency reviews for key warranty process requirements that are lacking in each of the above mentioned plants. This requires you to work with the Quality Director to create a collaborative, urgent, plan to assess where quality process breakdowns are occurring and then developing joint action plans with local management to put counter-plans in place to boost process robustness. • •Develops monthly report for the leadership team on warranty monies spent for the month and delivers a forecast for the remaining year based on current results. • •Works to insure that we are developing a solid method to accrue for issues that must be accounted for in the Long Range Plan. • •Helps work with the Sales team to develop customer processes that enable an agreed upon warranty recovery process to be adhered to for key customers so that random debits and non-fact-based debits are minimal or avoided. • •Communicates among commercial diesel plants trends and improvements so as to enable changes that reduce or eliminate future warranty exposure for the group. • •Drives actions with the local plants to improve warranty exposure through the right corrective actions in the field or at future deliveries. • •Defines process to ensure continuous warranty feedback into new application releases. • •Represents Commercial Diesel in global customer warranty initiatives. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 1. Requires a four-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. 2. Strong Analytical ability and experience in Minitab for statistical analysis is required. 3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and Powerpoint required. 4.
