Capoeira is the main activity for campers, who will be in-structed how to “play” this com-pelling martial art. Campers will become age-proficient in Ca-poeira and will learn the music and songs that accompany it. Before the end of the six-week program, campers will construct their own Berimbaus and perform in a the-atrical play about Capoeira’s ori-gins..
Campers will participate in in-tramural indoor soccer, volley-ball, ping pong, gardening, chess, ecological and biodiver-sity training, hip-hop dancing, Af-rican drumming, and swimming. (Camp Director is a Red Cross certified Life Guard with CPR, rescue breathing and first aid training. He will be present at all swim activities.)
Campers will go on field trips to lo-cal museums and commu-nity gardens, as well as other en-richment sites in Atlanta and en-virons.
